The SPSB Inter Steel Plant Hockey Championship being hosted by SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) was inaugurated on 18th February at Biju Pattnaik Hockey Stadium. Mr. P K Swain, CGM In-Charge (TA & CSR) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and inaugurated the event. Mr. B K Jojo, CGM (Town Engineering & Horticulture) and many other senior officers of RSP were present on the occasion. Mr. Swain declared the Tournament open. The Chief Guest was introduced to the players and the match officials.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Swain exhorted the participating teams to take part in the event with sporting spirit and wished the tournament a grand success.
Notably, 4 teams from Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP), RINL, TATA Steel and the host RSP are participating in the Tournament. In the inaugural match, RSP team defeated RINL by 5-1 goals. In the following match Tata Steel beat BSP by 6-1 goals. The Final match will be played on 20th February.
