WCL Celebrates with Ten Awards on Coal India Foundation Day

Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) marked the 51st Foundation Day of Coal India Limited (CIL) on November 1, 2025, by proudly receiving a total of ten awards—four Corporate Awards and six Individual Excellence Awards—recognizing its exemplary contributions across various domains. During the Foundation Day ceremony in Kolkata, WCL was honored with the First Prize for Land Acquisition & Rehabilitation, Second Prize for Environment Management, Second Prize for CSR Excellence, and the Third Prize for Star Rating as the Best Performing Subsidiary. These prestigious recognitions were presented by CIL Chairman Shri Sanoj Kumar Jha to WCL’s Chairman-cum-Managing Director Shri J. P. Dwivedi and other senior officials, highlighting the company’s commitment to excellence and teamwork.

In addition to corporate honors, WCL received six Individual Excellence Awards at a separate event held at CIL Headquarters, Kolkata. Recipients included Shri Ilyas Husain, recognized as the Best Area General Manager; Shri Rakesh Prasad, awarded as the Best Head of Department; and Shri Sabyasachi Dey, honored as the Best General Manager. Other awards went to Shri Rajkumar for Outstanding Sports, Smt. Manjusha Dhote for Best Female Employee (Non-HEMM), and Shri A. Anil Kumar for Vigilance Excellence. WCL’s achievements reaffirm its dedication to operational excellence, community welfare, and individual talent, setting a benchmark within Coal India Limited.
