Bengaluru, 25 June 2025: As India celebrates a defining moment in its space journey, Vedanta Chairman Mr. Anil Agarwal lauded Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla for becoming the second Indian to travel to space. In a deeply nostalgic and inspiring social media post, Mr. Agarwal congratulated the astronaut and reflected on the nation’s incredible progress over the last four decades.
“Reading this news, my mind went back to that day 41 years ago when the first Indian travelled to space,” he wrote, recalling the pride that swept the country when Wing Commander Rakesh Sharma famously described India from space as ‘Saare Jahaan Se Achha’. “I can’t describe the feeling of hearing it on radio,” he added.
Talking about the occasion, Mr Agarwal highlight India’s transformation into a global power, stating, “India has travelled a long distance in these four decades. Our economy is in the world’s top five. Our space programme is also in the top five.”
He underlined that India’s space ambitions are not about domination but discovery, driven by a purpose to explore, learn, and uplift lives on Earth.
Extending his best wishes to Group Captain Shukla and the entire ISRO team, Mr. Agarwal called this moment “a celebration of India’s aspiration, ability, and ambition, not just in space, but in every sphere of progress.”
