Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy inaugurates Steel Authority of India Representative office in Dubai

Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy inaugurated the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) representative office in Dubai, marking a key step in strengthening India-UAE bilateral relations and expanding business opportunities for India’s largest steel producer. Located at Lake Central, Business Bay, Dubai, the office underscores SAIL’s strategic aim to tap into the lucrative Middle East and North Africa region, leveraging Dubai’s position as a gateway to the MENA region. The event was attended by senior officials including the Consul General of India in Dubai, SAIL Chairman Amarendu Prakash, and representatives from NMDC, MECON, and the Indian diplomatic missions. Kumaraswamy highlighted the importance of establishing offices for PSU units like SAIL, MECON, and NMDC in the UAE to bolster cooperation, manufacturing capabilities, and exports, emphasizing the role of these initiatives in strengthening economic ties under the Prime Minister’s leadership.

SAIL, with an annual crude steel capacity of over 20 million tonnes, aims to utilize this Dubai office to expand its global presence and explore regional business prospects, aligning with India’s broader goal of reaching 300 million tonnes of steel production by 2030. The strategic location and supportive business environment of Dubai will facilitate increased exports and collaborations, fostering further growth in the steel sector and reinforcing bilateral relations between India and the UAE. The establishment of the Dubai office is seen as a significant milestone in India’s efforts to enhance its international steel footprint and capitalize on the economic opportunities in the Middle East and North Africa.
