Udsu Football Club Team emerged as champion of the Bisra Block in the Samvardhan Rural Football Tournament organised by SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant in Kulan Bahal Village of Badbambua Gram Panchayat of Bisra Block on 17th December. Mr. S S Roychoudhury, CGM (Maintenance) was the Chief Guest of the closing ceremony and handed over the trophies and cash awards to the champions of the tournament. Present on the occasion were Ms. Munmun Mittra, GM In-charge (CSR), Mr. Halu Mundari (Zilla Parishad) and former MLA, Mr. T B Toppo, AGM (CSR), Mr. A N Pati, AGM (CSR), Ms. Janavi Naik, Sarpanch (Badbambua) and Ms. Jamuna Oraon, Samiti Sabhya. 32 teams took part in the tournament.
Udsu Football Club team defeated the Sarubahal Football Club team by 3-1 to clinch the title. The third and the fourth positions were bagged by Jhirpani Football Club and Kulanbahal Jatin Brothers Football Club Team respectively. The Champions received a trophy and a cash award of Rs. 10,000/- while the runners up team got a trophy and a cash award of Rs. 8,000/-. The 3rd and 4th teams received cash prizes of Rs. 6,000/- and Rs. 4,000/- respectively.
The dignitaries also presented the Best Player, Best Scorer, Best Goal Keeper and Best Defender awards comprising cash award of Rs. 750/- and a memento to Shubham Oraon (Udsu), Sujit Oraon (Udsu), Nikhil Mundari, (Udsu) and Shekhar Oraon (Sarubahal) respectively.
At the outset Ms. Munmun Mittra, welcomed the gathering. A formal vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. T B Toppo, AGM (CSR). Mr. Benedict Ekka, Senior Field Instructor (CSR) anchored the function.
The five day tournament was conducted by Jay Laxmi, Self Help Group of Kulanbahal Village under the patronage of Rourkela Steel Plant. Large number of football lovers from in and around the village gathered to witness the event.
This was the Zonal Level Football tournament of the 2024-25 series which gets organised every year in the four peripheral Blocks of RSP. The Champions and the runners up from each of the four zones will compete in the Final Football Match that will be held at Rourkela.
