The Traffic & Raw Materials Department (T&RM) of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) organised a distinctive Rail-Road Safety Campaign on 11th January, 2025 to mark the observance of Road Safety Month-2025. The special campaign organised in association with the Safety Engineering Department (SED) aimed at enhancing road-rail safety culture inside the plant.
As part of the initiative, over 100 employees and contract labour from the T&RM department formed an extensive human chain stretching from Sanskar Gate to Main Gate. The event was led by Mr. Kaushika Sunyani, CGM (Traffic), Mrs. Asha Kartha, CGM (Safety & Fire Service) and Mr. Abakash Behera, GM In-Charge (SED), with the active participation of several senior officers from SED and T&RM.
The enthusiastic participants held placards displaying key safety messages and the Rail-Road Safety Template. The campaign highlighted essential safety practices, such as STOP-LOOK-PROCEED, crossing only at designated rail crossings, using foot-over bridges, and avoiding distractions like texting, loud music, or headphones that could prevent hearing an approaching train..
The campaign was strategically timed to coincide with the arrival of employees during the General Shift, ensuring maximum visibility and impact. The campaign started at 8:30 AM and concluded at 9:30 AM, ensuring that maximum employees witness the display of unity and safety awareness.
The T&RM team along with support from SED coordinated the programme.
