THDC India Achieves Major Milestone in Commissioning of 2400 MW Tehri Power Complex

THDC India Limited, a premier PSU in the power sector, has achieved a significant milestone towards the commissioning of the 2400 MW Tehri Power Complex. On August 2, 2024, the last ferrule of the Penstock Steel Liners for the final unit (Unit 8, 250 MW) of the 1000 MW Tehri Pumped Storage Plant (PSP) was successfully positioned. This marks the completion of the erection works for 9000 MT of Penstock Steel Liners across all four units of the Tehri PSP. Chairman and Managing Director of THDC India Limited, Sh. R. K. Vishnoi, commended the team for their dedicated efforts, emphasizing that this milestone is a crucial step toward achieving full operational capacity for the 2400 MW Hydro Power Complex.

Sh. Vishnoi highlighted that this achievement aligns with the Government of India’s vision to integrate over 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030 and the nation’s commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions. Upon commissioning, the Tehri Power Complex, which already includes the operational 1000 MW Tehri Hydro Power Plant (HPP) and the 400 MW Koteshwar Hydro Electric Project (HEP), will play a pivotal role in ensuring 24/7 affordable power supply, contributing significantly to the nation’s growth. Senior officials from THDCIL, along with representatives from GEPIL and HCC, were present to mark this accomplishment.
