‘Tensa Krusak Bazar’, a new vending zone under the CSR initiative of Barsua Iron Mines (BIM) under Odisha Group of Mines of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has been opened at BIM. At a function held recently in Tensa, Mr. Tilak Pattanaik, General Manager In-charge (BIM,TIM, KIM) inaugurated the facility and dedicated it to the local farmers.
Present on the occasion were Ms. Anita Purty, Sarpanch (Tensa Gram Panchayat), Mr. N. C. Panda, General Manager (HR&A), Mr. B. Dutta, AGM (Civil-CSR), the Assistant Commandant of CISF; and the Officer-In-Charge of Tensa Outpost and other Senior Officers of BIM and Taldihi Iron Mines, local leaders, and workers’ representatives.
The function was coordinated by Mr. Amiya Rout, Deputy Manager (Civil & CSR – BIM & TIM), who also played a key role in development of the vending zone.
The vending zone, which is expected to provide a significant boost to the local economy by creating a dedicated space for farmers to sell their produce, has been constructed at a total cost of Rs. 7.38 lakhs. The initiative will help enhance sustainable livelihood opportunities of the local agrarian community.
