A team of dedicated professionals at Ispat General Hospital of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant has successfully performed a challenging surgical procedure to remove a massive 25×25 cm ovarian cyst from a 22-year-old patient, Ms. Pratima Kisan, from Kuchinda, Sambalpur.
Ms. Kisan, a beneficiary of the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY),was admitted in the hospital with acute abdominal discomfort. Using the advanced diagnostic tools, including an ultrasound (USG), CT scan and tumor marker analysis the medical team diagnosed a large right ovarian cyst and ruled out malignancy.
The surgery was carried out by a team of skilled doctors comprising Dr. B. Mishra, Senior Consultant, Dr. Priya, Senior Medical Officer and Dr. Smita, Senior Consultant with nursing support provided by Sister Meera. The team performed a laparotomy to remove the cyst entirely. The surgery was successful and after satisfactory post surgical report the patient was discharged in good health on the 6th January.
