Tata Chemicals and Coastal Salinity Prevention Cell (CSPC) come together to strengthen education in Okhamandal 

Bengaluru, September 01, 2025 – : Tata Chemicals Limited, through its community development arm, the Tata Chemicals Society for Rural Development (TCSRD), in collaboration with the Coastal Salinity Prevention Cell (CSPC- AO of Tata Trusts), has launched a unique initiative to build local teaching capacity in Okhamandal.

Following the transfer of several government teachers, the program was initiated to help fill the gap and ensure continuity in children’s education. By identifying and training motivated youth from the local community in modern teaching methods, pedagogy and classroom management, the initiative ensures that learning continues without interruption.

At a special ceremony held today in Mithapur, Tata Chemicals felicitated a batch of 40 newly trained educators, recognizing their role in sustaining education and shaping the future of Okhamandal’s children. The newly trained educators will now take up responsibilities in local schools.

The ceremony was attended by Shri Pabubha Manek, Honorable MLA, Devbhumi Dwarka; Shri Lunabha Sumaniya, Chairman, District Education Committee; Mr. Hemant Suva, Taluka Primary Education Officer; Shri Devisingbha Hathal, President, Taluka Panchayat, Shri Vanrajbha Tharyabha Manek-Chairman District Health Committee, Shri Varjangbha Manek, President Sarpanch Mandal Okhamandal and Shri S. Chakraborty, Head, Soda Ash & Cement, Tata Chemicals Limited.

The initiative was carried out with the support of the education department, particularly the offices of the District Primary Education Officer (DPEO) and District Education Officer (DEO). Tata Chemicals also acknowledged the encouragement of the Honourable MLA, as well as the efforts of CSPC and the TCSRD team in implementing the program within a short timeframe.

Speaking at the event, Mr S. Chakraborty, Head Soda Ash & Cement, Tata Chemicals Limited, said:
“The young educators we celebrate today have stepped forward at a crucial time and accepted the responsibility of shaping the next generation. Their dedication demonstrates that meaningful progress is possible when communities, government and industry work together with a shared purpose.
