NDTV’s flagship show, Jai Jawan, has been airing on the network since its inception in 2003.

On India’s 76th Independence Day, actor Kiara Advani joins NDTV in honouring the BSF soldiers at the Wagah border on the flagship show Jai Jawan on 15th August at 9:30PM.

Jai Jawan encapsulates our gratitude to the forces and the extreme conditions in which they work, bringing on camera, their daily trials, and triumphs where a big celebrity spends time engaging with the men and women of the forces. The show has won much appreciation and awards owing to sensitive handling and the great spirit of our country that is showcased with each show, a combination of courage, grit and the gruelling discipline followed by the jawans at the border.

To date, we have done 35 episodes of Jai Jawan where 23 episodes alone have been shot with the Indian Army. Bollywood stars Aamir Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kumar, Aishwarya Rai, Kareena Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Vicky Kaushal, and others have shot the episodes with the Indian Army. Alia Bhatt, Ayushman Khurrana, Arjun Kapoor and Sonu Sood with the BSF. Sushmita Sen, Ranveer Singh and Kartik Aryan with the Indian Navy.

Kareena Kapoor was a picture of grace at the Lakme Fashion Week

Actor Kareena Kapoor Khan was a picture of grace at the grand finale of the Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai on Sunday. She was the show stopper for designer Amit Aggarwal.

Wearing a stunning green and black ensemble, Kareena cut a pretty picture — in videos online, she can be seen in a green dress. She walked down the runway with utmost confidence and style.

The venue for the closing show was the iconic Mukesh Mills, one of the favourite shooting locations for Bollywood filmmakers. Speaking to PTI about her excitement about Amit’s dramatic clothes, she said, “I think the #BetterIn3D range is quite cool because the colours in the collection this time are that all women can wear. The outfit is also slightly 3D, dramatic and geometrical. It has got a futuristic vibe and I had a great time wearing Amit’s creation.” Complimenting his muse, Amit added nobody could have pulled off his vision better than Kareena.

“This association makes me believe in the faith that Lakme has put in me all these years. I wanted to push it to the next level. As a creative person, the concept of the show interested me. I wanted to do justice to it. When the concept came to me I was happy as it resonated with my brand and with Kareena’s charm and elegance it became even a more memorable experience,” he said.

On her work front, Kareena has just delivered a huge hit with Akshay Kumar-starrer Good Newwz. The film, which made more than Rs 200 crores globally, is the story of two couples, play by Akshay-Kareena and Diljit Dosanjh-Kiara Advani, trying for babies. The drama unfolds as their sperms get interchanged in an IVF clinic.

Kareena is now gearing up for the release of her next, Angrezi Medium, in which she stars opposite Irrfan Khan, Radhika madan, Deepak Dobriyal, Dimple Kapadia among others. The makers of the film dropped its trailer in mid February and from the response it got, it is evident that the film will be among the most-anticipated films this year.

Kareena will also be seen with Aamir Khan again in Laal Singh Chaddha, a remake of Forrest Gump. Her first look poster was shared by Aamir on Valentine’s Day.

Akshay Kumar’s Good Newwz Crosse’s Rs 300 Crore Mark

Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor Khan-starrer, Good Newwz, has crossed the Rs 300 crore (gross) mark at the global box office, producer Karan Johar has announced. Taking to Twitter, Karan called the film “The goof-up which is creating a laugh riot around the GLOBE!!”

Good Newwz is a screwball comedy about two couples who experience a mix-up at a fertility clinic, after their sperm is exchanged. While Akshay and Kareena play the sophisticated Batras, Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh play the louder Batras.

The film has made Rs 190 crore in India, after 18 days of release. It marked Akshay Kumar’s fourth film of the year to hit the Rs 100 crore mark at the box office, following Kesari, Mission Mangal and Housefull 4. The actor will next be seen in the action thriller Sooryavanshi, which is the latest instalment in director Rohit Shetty’s cop universe, whose previous instalments include the two Singham films and Simmba. After that, Akshay will appear in the horror comedy Laxxmi Bomb and then in Prithviraj.

Good Newwz received positive reviews from critics as well, who praised the mix of humour and emotions. Thanking fans for the positive reception, Akshay said in a statement, “We are extremely overwhelmed with the response coming in for Good Newwz as it’s a subject which had to be shared with the audience. It’s an important subject and I thank the viewers not only in India but also overseas that they have accepted us with open hearts. With this film, I am confident that a movie with good messaging and subject will always fetch success and appreciation.”

The film will likely experience a drop, thanks to two new films taking over the majority of screens. On Friday, Ajay Devgn’s Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior and Deepika Padukone’s Chhapaak were released.

Good Newwz Box Office Collection Day 6: Rs 117 Crore

Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor’s new film Good Newwz wrapped 2019 on a good note and began the New Year on an even better one. In six days, the comedy has soared past the Rs 100 crore mark, scoring Rs 117 at the box office, said trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

On the New Year holiday on Wednesday, Good Newwz raked in as much as Rs 22 crore, pushing the total to an impressive figure. The film had made almost Rs 50 crore over the weekend. “Good Newwz is 100 not out… Hits the ball out of the park on Day 6… Ends 2019 with ‘good newwz‘… Begins 2020 with ‘good newwz‘… Fri 17.56 cr, Sat 21.78 cr, Sun 25.65 cr, Mon 13.41 cr, Tue 16.20 cr, Wed 22.50 cr. Total: Rs 117.10 cr. India biz,” Mr Adarsh wrote.

Last Friday, Good Newwz joined Salman Khan’s Dabangg 3 at the box office and took over the race. Looks like Good Newwz will have an uninterrupted run in the theatre with no major releases till Deepika Padukone’s Chhapaak and Ajay Devgn’s Tanhaji on January 10.

Good Newwz opened to mixed reviews last Friday. In his review for NDTV, film critic Saibal Chatterjee wrote: “… With Kareena plunging headlong into the madness that the plot rustles up and not holding back a whit, one can watch the film without worrying too much about the wobbles that tend to mar the ride. Akshay, shedding his patriotic change agent garb for once, makes the most of the bearable lightness of the plot.”

Good Newwz also stars Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh.

In the life of Kareena and Akshay, Diljit and Kiara enter as uninvited guests. This latter situation is full of comedy, with emotional touch the director has kept the audience connected to the story. The editing of the film is very tight. The story does not seem to have drawn you anywhere. The film keeps it tied from beginning to end. The theme of the film is quite serious, but the way the director introduced the story with the help of comedy, it is clan-compliant, because often the directors do not escape from the stupidity on such subjects.

Shahid Kapoor: No one picked on Sanju like Kabir Singh when the guy reveals about the 300 girls he slept with

It has been over a month to the release date of the film and still, the young crowd is watching the film over and over again. Recently, as per the box office numbers, Kabir Singh managed to become the biggest blockbuster of 2019 and despite so much success, the film’s main character has been criticised time and again for encouraging toxic masculinity.

In a recent chat with Hindustan Times, Shahid expressed his happiness on the success of the film and also spoke about the criticism coming his way. The 38-year-old actor mentioned that the success over the past five weeks feels surreal to him and is still sinking in. When Shahid was questioned about playing the flawed character of Kabir Singh, he mentioned that he has never been afraid of playing dark characters like Kabir or Tommy Singh, since in real life he can never be those guys.

The actor shared that just because a character is flawed doesn’t mean that one didn’t enjoy the film. Shahid cited the example of a scene from Sanju to explain it. Kabir Singh actor said, “There have been films in the recent past which had characters exhibiting similar traits but then no one really picked on them. To be candid, Sanju had a scene where the guy sitting in front of his wife and saying he has slept with 300 women. No one picked on it the way they went after Kabir Singh. And this is not to say that I didn’t enjoy Sanju. I thoroughly did, because I didn’t watch it to see how people should be, I watched it to see how the character’s life is. The fact that people loved Kabir Singh has just told me that people watch a film for what it is.”
