The programme commenced with the dignitaries lighting the ceremonial lamp and paying floral tributes to Florence Nightingale, the founder of Modern Nursing. Mr. Misra applauded the long standing history of RSP in training Nurses, the essential health care providers and commended the Principal and Staff of our Nurses Training Institute for their excellent service in grooming the young nurse-trainees. Referring to this year’s Nurses Day Theme, i.e. “Our Nurses Our Future: Caring for nurses strengthens economies” Dr. Acharya said that investing in the well-being, training, and professional development of nurses is not just a healthcare priority but a critical economic strategy.

A special Lamp lighting and Oath taking ceremony was also organised for the 76^th Batch of GNM 2025 Nursing students in which the new entrants who have successfully completed their probation period lighted the candle and took the Florence Nightingale pledge. Ms. Rashmi Soreng, Senior Sister Tutor (NTI) administered the oath.

The dignitaries distributed the awards to the students for academic achievements as well as extracurricular activities. Winners of the competition held earlier specially under the faculty category were also awarded.

Dr. Sonia Joshi, welcomed the gathering while Ms. Bidyut Prabha Goth,  presented the Annual Report of the institute. Ms. Prativa Kheti, Sister Tutor (NTI) proposed a formal vote of thanks.  Ms. Lucy Anima Tirkey, Senior Sister Tutor (NTI) coordinated the event  along with Ms. Ameya Gokhura, Manager (Nursing Administration) and Matron and Ms. Meera Pati, Assistant Manager and Matron and the NTI team.  The meeting was followed by a colourful cultural program.

The nursing fraternity of IGH celebrated the International Nurses Day at the Apollo Managing IPGI & Super Specialty Hospital auditorium on 12^th May. Dr. Jaynta Acharya, was the Chief Guest of the function. Present on the occasion were Dr. Archana Behera, Additional CMO (M&HS), Mr. Durga Madhab Tripathy, President (Trained Nurses Association of India), other Senior Doctors, nurses and staff of IGH.

Hyderabad, May 12, 2025: Apollo Hospitals joined healthcare institutions worldwide in celebrating International Nurses Day, with activities designed not only to recognize nursing excellence but also to underscore the vital role nurses play in sustaining both global health systems and economic resilience. On a day that shines a spotlight on the dedication, skill, and compassion of its nursing workforce, units across the Apollo Hospitals network hosted a week‑long series of events culminating in a special luncheon, cultural performances, and the unveiling of an interactive installation Gratitude Wall.

The interactive Gratitude Wall, was a uniquely designed platform for colleagues, patients, and families to post handwritten notes, photographs, and drawings expressing thanks for the tireless efforts of their nursing heroes. From messages of encouragement to stories of care that went above and beyond, the wall became an enduring symbol of gratitude. Nurses paused through the day to read these heartfelt tributes, visibly moved by the outpouring of appreciation and support.

Cultural performances and celebratory luncheons were also organised at Apollo hospitals  Hyderabad campus and staff hostels with traditional dances, music recitals, and short theatrical pieces, all crafted by the nurses, reflecting the unity and shared purpose that binds them  together in their service to patients.

The celebrations also brought into focus the well‑being initiatives available for nurses, including access to mental health support and career‑development workshops. These initiatives address the growing recognition that nurse wellness is integral to patient safety, staff retention, and overall healthcare quality.

As the celebrations draw to a close, the Gratitude Wall will remain on display in the hospitals’ atrium for some time, serving as a reminder of the impact nursing professionals have on individuals and communities alike.

The celebrations commenced on 21^st April with an Essay Competition. 91 students took part in it expressing their, expressing their thoughts with clarity and conviction. Mr. K. M. Patra, External Lecturer of NTI was the judge of the event .

In the Pencil Sketch competition around 44 students took part. Dr. Sonia Joshi, Additional CMO, Dr. Byasadev Mishra, Senior Consultant and Ms. Nabanita Jena, Assistant Manager Vice Principal (NTI) evaluated the artistic skills of the participants.

Mono Acting competition, brought to the forefront powerful performances and emotional depth to the stage by 15 energetic students. It was judged by Dr. Saroj Kumar Rout, Chief Consultant, Ms. Meera Pati, Asst. Manager (Matron) and Ms. Anita Roy, Senior Nursing Tutor.

On 22^nd April there were Floor Design, Elocution and Solo Song competitions. The Floor Design competition added colour and aesthetic touch to the celebration. 22 students took part in it. The event was judged by the panel of judges comprising, Ms. Jayashree Rout, Senior Nursing Sister , Dr. B.S. Roychoudhury, Deputy CMO  and Dr. Anima Tiga, Chief Consultant.

Around 20 students took part in the Elocution competition impressing the audience and judges alike with their confidence and oratory skills on a range of topics. The event was judged by Dr. Aruna Mukti Minz, Deputy CMO, Ms. Madhusmita Jena and Ms. Shiny George of NTI.

15 students participated in the Solo Song competition which judged by Dr. K C Tandi, Deputy CMO,  Ms. Jyotsna Rani Ray, Senior Nursing Sister and Ms. Sasmita Sahoo, Nursing Sister .

The events helped the students to explore their talents and express their creativity.
