HYDERABAD. The 14th GRID-INDIA Power System Awards (GIPSA) 2025–26 were presented during ICPS 2025 at IIT Hyderabad, recognising outstanding research contributions in the power systems domain. A total of 30 scholars, including 15 PhD and 15 postgraduate students from leading IITs, NITs and other premier universities, were honoured for their impactful and innovative work.

The award ceremony was attended by senior leaders from GRID-INDIA and IIT Hyderabad, reflecting strong industry–academia collaboration. Implemented by SIIC, IIT Kanpur, the GIPSA programme follows a rigorous and transparent evaluation process to promote industry-relevant research. HYDERABAD. GRID-INDIA felicitated 30 scholars, including 15 PhD and 15 postgraduate students, at the 14th GRID-INDIA Power System Awards (GIPSA) 2025–26 held during ICPS 2025 at IIT Hyderabad. The awards recognised outstanding and impactful research contributions in the power systems domain, reflecting the growing role of academic innovation in addressing emerging challenges in India’s power sector. The ceremony was attended by senior leaders, including Shri Samir Chandra Saxena, Chairman and Managing Director, GRID-INDIA; Shri B.S. Murty, Director, IIT Hyderabad; Shri Paresh R. Ranpara, Director (HR); Shri Amit Kumar Jain, Director (Finance); and Shri M.K. Ramesh, Head of Region, SRLDC, underscoring strong industry–academia collaboration.

Usha currently serves as the Executive Director at the National Load Despatch Centre (NLDC), GRID-INDIA, in New Delhi. At NLDC, Ms. S Usha became the first-ever woman to lead National Load Despatch Centre (NLDC), GRID-INDIA as its Head.

Ms. Usha holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engg. from Calicut University and has over three decades of expertise in power system operations and electricity market operations across Southern and Western Regional Load Despatch Centres. Saxena, addressed the members and apprised them of the functioning and future plans of the Company. The meeting was attended by CMD, Shri Paresh R. Ranpara, Director (Human Resources), Shri R.K. Porwal, Director (System Operation), Shri Amit Kumar Jain, Director (Finance) & CFO, Dr. Srikant Nagulapalli, Government Nominee Director, Ms. Anjali Sinha, Government Nominee Director, Adv. Ravindra Ramdas Borawake, Independent Director, Company Secretary, Representative from the Ministry of Power and Statutory and Secretarial Auditors. The members inter – alia approved payment of Final Dividend of ₹63.32 lakh in addition to Interim Dividend of ₹569.90 lakh paid earlier to the Ministry of Power.

Despite this growth, the cooler weather this year resulted in a peak demand of only 242 GW in June 2025. He emphasized that to maintain grid stability, it is crucial to enhance flexibility in conventional resources and develop robust market mechanisms, reinforcing GRID-INDIA’s commitment to a resilient and reliable power system.

Amit Kumar Jain takes charge as Director (Finance) of GRID-INDIA

New Delhi. Shri Amit Kumar Jain has assumed charge as Director (Finance) of Grid Controller of India Limited (GRID-INDIA). Prior to joining GRID-INDIA, he served as General Manager (Finance) at Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID).

With over 29 years of post-qualification experience, Shri Jain began his career in 1996 and joined POWERGRID in 2001. He has held key leadership roles across various regional and corporate offices, including CFO of POWERGRID West Central Transmission Ltd. and HoF of Western Region-II.

His expertise spans fund mobilization, treasury, budgeting, commercial operations, securitization, and ERP implementation. He played a key role in establishing CTUIL’s BCD function under CERC regulations. An accomplished strategist and business simulation expert, Shri Jain has also represented India at the Global Management Contest. He is widely recognized for his strategic acumen, leadership, and collaborative approach.
