Yash’s superhit KGF 2 becomes top grosser

The superhit film KGF 2, the Kannada film directed by Prashanth Neel has been on a record-breaking spree. In India, it has left behind not just old releases like Dangal but also the new films including– SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR,’ Tiger Shroff‘s ‘Heropanti 2,’ Shahid Kapoor starrer ‘Jersey,’ and ‘Runway 34’ starring Ajay Devgn, Amitabh Bachchan and Rakul Preet Singh. Not only this but the regional film is giving a tough competition to the superhero film ‘Dr Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness.’ It has secured its place not just in the Indian but also in the overseas market and has emerged out to become the highest-grossing Hindi film. Yes, that’s true!

Going by the latest report of Box Office India, ‘KGF Chapter 2’ which happens to be the sequel of ‘KGF Chapter 1’ has hit the $9 million mark and collected a worldwide figure of 560 crores. Despite the fact, it is being said that achieving the $10 million mark will be difficult considering the fact that its run is towards the finish line in many markets. However, KGF 2 will be able to close at 580-590 crores and will be able to secure its place in the top five Hindi worldwide grosses ever.

BoxOfficeIndia reported, “The film has grossed a huge A$2.6m in Australia making it the third biggest Hindi film ever thereafter Padmaavat and Dangal. The North American market is at $3.30 million while Gulf is also fantastic at $2.1m. United Kingdom has also done well as it crosses £500k.”

KGF: Chapter 2 also created another benchmark when it became the first Kannada film to be screened in South Korea. Not only this but Yash starrer is the first Indian film to be screened in the country after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Doctor Strange 2 Box Office Collection crossed 100 cr

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen witnessed a grand opening. The MCU film has zoomed past $500M on the global front. Indeed, the film has crossed the high expectations as it had a thunderous performance during the weekend. Talking about its performance at the Indian box office then the film has been able to stand strong even after Yash starrer magnum opus KGF Chapter 2. It has successfully entered the 100 crore club and continues to drive the audience to the theatre. With its half-billion-dollar collection worldwide, the Marvel film has surpassed the recently released The Batman starring Robert Pattinson by well over 100 percent. Undoubtedly, it is the second-best opening in the pandemic era. Sam Raimi’s directorial is currently the fourth largest for any MCU film, trailing behind Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

According to the Box Office India report, “Despite the falling collections the film is on course to become the sixth highest grossing Hollywood film of all time in India after Avengers Endgame, Avengers Infinity War, Spiderman – No Way Home, The Jungle Book and The Lion King. All These films went over the 150 crore net mark while Dr Strange – In The Multiverse Of Madness may have to settle to for around 125 crore net depending on where the second Friday collections fall.”

“This 125 crore net will be a fantastic number as Dr Strange is not really an established superhero in India as the first film clocked up just 25 crore net in 2016,” it added further.

Sam Raimi’s directorial Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness picks up as the eponymous neurosurgeon-turned-Avenger, played by Cumberbatch, casts a dangerous spell that forces him to travel into the multiverse to face a mysterious new adversary and alternate versions of himself.

Dream Girl Hema Malini conferred Indian Film Personality of the Year

Be it Basanti, Seeta aur Geeta or Dream Girl, Hema Malini has immortalized every character she has played on the big screen, etching herself and the characters she portrayed in the hearts of the audience forever.

In recognition of her quintessential contribution to the world of cinema, the 52nd edition of the International Film Festival of India, Goa has conferred the two-time Member of Parliament and veteran actor, dancer, producer and director of Hindi cinema, with the Indian Personality of the Year Award, at the opening ceremony today, November 20, 2021.

For her exceptional contribution to Hindi cinema, Hema Malini is regarded as one of the most successful actors of the Indian film industry.

Receiving the award, the Dream Girl, said, “I am happy to receive the Indian Film Personality of the Year Award 2021.” Referring to the 75 Creative Minds of Tomorrow competition, she said that IFFI is doing a great job as the competition will give recognition to young and talented film makers of the country through such a platform.

Complimenting the actor, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shri Anurag Singh Thakur said the actor has enthralled generations of film lovers. “Everyone has seen Hema Malini on screen, but the way she plays the role of a Member of Parliament and the way she brings forth to Parliament the issues of her Constituency Mathura, everyone should learn from that.”

Hema Malini was born in Tamil Nadu and she made her acting debut in 1963 with the Tamil film Idhu Sathiyam. She entered the Hindi cinema with a bang as the lead actress of Sapno Ka Saudagar in 1968. After that, there was no looking back and she acted in over 150 films like Sholay, Seeta Aur Geeta, Satte pe Satta and Baghban, among many others.

A doyen of Hindi Cinema, Hema Malini was honoured with the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2000. She has also served as the Chairperson of the National Film Development Corporation.

Ms. Malini, also a trained Bharatnatyam dancer, received the Sopori Academy of Music & Performing Arts (SaMaPa) Vitasta award in 2006 for her service to Indian dance. In the 2014 General Election to Lok Sabha, Ms. Malini was elected as the Member of Lok Sabha from Mathura constituency.

Renowned lyricist and Chairperson of Central Board of Film Corporation Shri Prasoon Joshi, the other recipient of the Indian Film Personality of the Year Award this year, was also present at the opening ceremony. Shri Joshi will receive the award on the closing day of the festival.

Apart from being a lyricist, Shri Prasoon Joshi is also a poet, writer, screenwriter, communication specialist and marketer. He is currently the Chairperson, CBFC and Chairman, Asia and CEO of McCann World Group India. Mr. Joshi has received the National Film Award twice for Best Lyrics. In the year 2015, the Government of India awarded him Padma Shri for his contributions towards the field of Arts, Literature and Advertising. This year in IFFI, he has served as a member of the Grand Jury for the ‘75 Creative Minds of Tomorrow’ competition.

कई फिल्मों को ओटीटी पर रिलीज करने का एलान

कोरोना महामारी की दूसरी लहर के चलते देशभर के सिनेमाघर बंद पड़े है। यही वजह हैं कि बड़े स्टार्स भी अब डिजिटल प्लेटफार्म का रुख कर रहे है। लॉकडाउन की वजह से कई फिल्मों की रिलीज डेट टाल दिया गया और कई को ओटीटी पर रिलीज करने का एलान किया गया। फिल्मों के अलावा, वेब शोज और सीरीज भी रिलीज किया जाएगा। आइए आपको बताते हैं उन वेब सीरीज और फिल्मों के बारे में जो जून 2021 में पर रिलीज होंगी। मनोज बाजपेयी की बहुप्रतीक्षित वेब सीरीज ‘द फैमिली मैन 2’ का प्रसारण अमेजन प्राइम वीडियो पर चार जून से शुरू होगा। बता दें कि सीरीज की कहानी एक जासूस श्रीकांत तिवारी की कहानी है जिसके घरवालों को नहीं पता कि वह क्या करता है। सीरीज में ये किरदार मनोज बाजपेयी निभा रहे हैं। सीरीज के अन्य कलाकारों में शारिब हाशमी, नीरज माधव, पवन चोपड़ा, गुल पनाग और श्रेया धनवंतरि आदि प्रमुख रहे हैं। सीरीज के निर्देशकों राज और डीके ने इसका संगीत पिछली बार हिंदी सिनेमा के चर्चित संगीतकारों सचिन और जिगर से तैयार कराया था। गौरतलब है कि इस सीजन समांथा अक्किनेनी भी मुख्य भूमिका में नजर आएंगी। खास बात यह भी है कि इस सीरीज के साथ समांथा अपना जबरदस्त डिजिटल डेब्यू कर रही हैं।

अमिताभ बच्चन(Amitabh Bachchan) और इमरान हाशमी(Emraan Hashmi) की फिल्म चेहरे(Chehre) का सभी को बेसब्री से इंतजार है. यह फिल्म अप्रैल में सिनेमाघरों में रिलीज होने वाली थी लेकिन कोरोना की दूसरी लहर की वजह से इसे पोस्टपोन कर दिया गया है. फिल्म का ट्रेलर, टीजर सब रिलीज हो चुका है. अब लॉकडाउन के चलते फिल्म के रिलीज का फैंस को इंतजार है. कोरोना की वजह से कई फिल्मों को ओटीटी प्लेटफॉर्म पर रिलीज किया जा रहा है. ऐसे में चेहरे के प्रोड्यूसर ने बताया है कि क्या ये फिल्म भी ओटीटी प्लेटफॉर्म पर रिलीज होगी?

चेहरे के प्रोड्यूसर आनंद पंडित ने बताया है कि चेहरे ओटीटी प्लेटफॉर्म या सिनेमाघरों में से कहा रिलीज होगी. उन्होंने कहा- ट्रेलर को ऑडियन्स का बहुत अच्छा रिस्पॉन्स मिला है. हम बहुत दुखी हैं कि कोरोना की दूसरी लहर की वजह से इसे रिलीज नहीं कर पाए.

आनंद पंडित ने आगे कहा- इस फिल्म को हम सिनेमाघरों में रिलीज करने की सोच रहे हैं. यह बड़े पर्दे के लिए बनी फिल्म है. साथ ही हमको सिनेमाघरों के मालिकों और डिस्ट्रीब्यूटर के सपोर्ट की जरुरत है. वह इंडस्ट्री के लोगों को काम देते है. आशा करते हैं हम चेहरे को इस साल के सेकेंड हाफ में फिल्म को रिलीज करेंगे.

Varun Dhawan And Natasha Dalal’s Wedding

ACTOR VARUN DHAWAN and Natasha Dalal finally married in a small ceremony in Alibaug on January 24. The childhood sweethearts had to postpone their big day due to COVID-19. Keeping social distancing norms in place, the couple sealed the deal with around 50 close guests in attendance at The Mansion House, located along the coast of Alibaug. Over the weekend, the actor shared the first official glimpse of the private affair in an Instagram post captioned “Life long love just became official.” The pictures showed the beaming couple taking their pheras hand-in-hand at the mandap. While the bride wore a pale gold lehenga covered in dual tones of silver and gold embroidery, Dhawan picked a heavily-embroidered off-white sherwani by with a hint of mint blue. .

From the delicate floral border of the dupatta to the star motifs on the sleeves, Dalal’s lehenga came covered in intricate detailing from head to toe. She matched the embellishment on her ensemble with her diamond jewellery, picking a sparkling necklace with a statement emerald pendant, earrings with pearl drops, and a complementing maang tikka, along with silver kalire by Mrinalini Chandra. With her hair pulled back into a half-up, half-down do topped with white flowers.

Director Karan Johar, who gave Varun Dhawan his big Bollywood break with Student Of The Year, expressed his emotions in an Instagram entry. KJo recalled meeting the actor in Goa for the first time and he wrote: “I am filled with a multitude of emotions and memories as I write this post! I still remember meeting this kid in Goa! Long hair, big dreams in his eyes and a swag that was waiting to explode on celluloid.”

A few years later, Varun was one of the assistant directors on the sets of KJo’s 2010 film My Name Is Khan, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. “A few years later he was my Assistant on MNIK! I silently observed his determined sincerity and also how hilarious he can be …sometimes even unintentionally. When he faced the camera for me for the first time I developed an immediately protective feeling of love and care for him,” he added.

IFFI unveils its Festival Kaleidoscop

International Film Festival of India has today announces the line-up of films for its Festival Kaleidoscope. The section will feature 12 films from across the world. The line-up consists of the following:

Night of the Kings by Philippe Lacôte(France) The 51st Edition of the prestigious International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is set to be held in Goa from 16th January to 24th January 2021. It’s time to rejoice for Marathi film lovers as six powerful and thought-provoking Marathi movies, 3 feature and 3 non-feature films, have been selected to be showcased in the Indian Panorama section of the prestigious event.
With an aim of providing a common platform for the cinemas of the world to project the excellence of the film art, IFFI celebrates some of the finest cinematic works every year from India and around the world.

Indian Panorama, introduced in 1978, is IFFI’s flagship component under which best of contemporary Indian films are selected for the promotion of film art. Indian Panorama promotes the Indian Films and its rich culture and heritage.

Here is a look at the selected Marathi movies:

DILIP SAHEB TURNS 98

The Bollywood veteran DILIP KUMAR turned 98 on Friday and wishes poured in on social media from the members of the film fraternity. Some of the actors shared cherished memories with the actor in the form of throwback pictures while others wished Dilip Kumar on social media with heartfelt notes.

Shah Rukh Khan posted a picture of himself and the iconic actor and wrote: “To the one and only, who amazed and inspired the world by just being himself. Wishing the legendary Dilip Kumar a happy birthday. I cherish and remember every time we’ve met in vivid detail and you have always loved me like your own. Love you too much. Have a good one, Dilip Sahib.”

Veteran stars Dharmendra and Raj Babbar shared priceless throwback pictures of Dilip Kumar on their respective Instagram profiles. “Happy birthday, Dalip sahab. Love you my darling brother,” wrote Dharmendra, who has worked with Dilip Kumar in films like Guddi and Jwaar Bhata, while Raj Babbar wished the legendary actor like this: “Happy Birthday. Wishes to the living legend Dilip Kumar Saheb. Through his sterling performances he wrote Indian cinema’s grammar book on Acting from which so many like me benefitted. Feel blessed to have worked with him. May the almighty always grant him good health.” Raj Babbar shared screen space with Dilip Kumar in Mazdoor.

Mohammed Yusuf Khan (born 11 December 1922) known professionally as Dilip Kumar, is an Indian actor and philanthropist, best known for his work in Hindi cinema. Referred as The Tragedy King and The First Khan he has been credited for bringing the Method acting technique to Indian cinema. Kumar holds the record for most wins for the Filmfare Award for Best Actor and was also the inaugural recipient of the award.

Kumar debuted as an actor in the film Jwar Bhata (1944), produced by Bombay Talkies. In a career spanning over five decades, Kumar worked in over 65 films. Kumar is known for roles in films such as the romantic Andaz (1949), the heartwarming Babul (1950), the impassioned Deedar (1951), the swashbuckling Aan (1952), social drama Daag (1952), the dramatic Devdas (1955), the comical Azaad (1955), Naya Daur (1957), Yahudi (1958), Madhumati (1958), Kohinoor (1960), the epic historical Mughal-e-Azam (1960), the social dacoit crime drama Gunga Jumna (1961) and the comedy Ram Aur Shyam (1967)

JAVED SHABANA Friendship continues

Veteran actress Shabana Azmi shared a black and white photograph with her husband, poet-lyricist-screenwriter Javed Akhtar on Tuesday, a day before their 36th wedding anniversary.

She also spoke about the friendship they share, which strengthens their bond.

Azmi posted the photo on Instagram. In the photograph, the actress can be seen leaning against her husband as they both smile at the camera.

“On 9th December this year we will have been married for 36 years mashallah ..Javed says Shabana and I are such good friends that even marriage couldn’t destroy our friendship!” Azmi wrote on Instagram.

Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar were married on December 9, 1984. The marriage happened after Akhtar parted ways with his first wife, screenwriter Honey Irani, who is the mother of his daughter Zoya Akhtar and son Farhan Akhtar.

WHY NCB FAILED TO TAKE BHARTI SINGH CUSTODY

Comedians Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa were arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau this weekend and sent to 14-day judicial custody by a special holiday court on Sunday.

The court refused to agree to the NCB’s demand in which they had asked for remand custody of the two actors and said that it was a simple case of consuming a small quantity of drugs, and therefore, no custody is required.

the court observed, “The drug seized from their residence is of a small quantity. Also, it’s a case of consumption only, hence police custody under such circumstances is not required.

Bharti and Haarsh have been sent to different prisons. While she’s in the Byculla women’s prison, her husband is at the Taloja jail.

comedian Raju Srivastava refused to believe the news when it came out initially.

He speaks to us, “I have worked with her in Comedy Circus, Raju Haazir Ho and Gangs of Haseepur, and many live shows too. Usko dekh ke kabhi nahi laga ki drugs leti hogi. I had attended her wedding too. I would get curious as to how her friends, like Sunil Grover, Krushna (Abhishek), could dance all night, not sleep, and then the next day again have fun and dance. I would think why don’t they feel the need to sleep, and yes I know they are younger than me maybe that’s why they have the energy. Lekin ab har cheez pe doubt jaa raha hai jabse news aayi hai.”

The 56-year-old adds that he dismissed her arrest initially as fake news, but when it was confirmed he was shocked and sad.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra cabinet minister Nawab Malik slammed the agency by saying that it was targeting Bollywood and arresting the addicts instead of sending them to rehab.

While Bharti was arrested earlier, post a long interrogation on Sunday morning, the NCB arrested Harsh as well. The agency had seized small quantities of Ganja from their premises. On Sunday, the duo was produced before the holiday court in South Bombay and sent to judicial custody. “We had sought two days custody to understand how they purchased the drugs and how payments were made to the peddler, but the court refused it,” said advocate Atul Sarpande, who appeared for NCB.
