Suggestors’ Meet organized at SAIL Rourkela Steel Plant showcases employee Innovations

The Suggestors’ Meet organized by the Industrial Engineering Department (IED) of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) showcased the creative talent and innovative spirit of employees. The event was held on 30th August, 2025 at Learning & Development (L&D) Department. Mr. P K Sahoo, CGM (HR-L&D) presided over the session. Mr. R K Verma, GM In-Charge (BE, IED & HA), Senior Officers of IED and other departments of the plant along with many employees were present on the occasion.

Mr. P K Sahoo, while appreciating the effort of the IED, said that platforms like the Suggestors’ Meet not only serve to recognize creative ideas but also play a vital role in promoting a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and collaboration within the organization.

Mr. R. K. Verma encouraged employees to continue contributing actively to the Srujani Creativity Scheme and emphasized that the growth of the plant depends largely on the consistent flow of feasible, innovative, and impactful ideas from its workforce.

Sixteen employees from different departments presented their implemented suggestions, highlighting their significance and the tangible benefits achieved in their respective work areas.

Notably, the program was conceptualized by IED with the objective of creating a structured platform where employees from different departments of the plant could come together to showcase their innovative solutions, ideas, and practices that had already been implemented under the Srujani – The Creativity Award Scheme. The initiative aimed not only at recognizing the creative contributions of individual employees but also at encouraging cross-departmental learning, so that successful ideas from one area could inspire and be replicated in others. By facilitating such interaction, the meet sought to strengthen the culture of innovation, promote employee involvement in problem-solving, and contribute towards the larger goals of cost reduction, productivity enhancement, and operational excellence across the plant.

Mr. B K Behera, DGM (IED) coordinated the program. Mr. S.S Poonia, Sr Manager proposed the vote of thanks.
