SPSB Swimming Championship 2025 Runners up SAIL RSP team felicitated

The SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) Swimming Team, which emerged as Runners-Up in the SPSB Swimming Championship 2025, was felicitated at a special ceremony held at the Biju Patnaik Hockey Stadium, Sector-5. Mr. T.G. Kanekar, CGM (TS & CSR), presided over the programme and felicitated the team members for their commendable performance. He was also presented with the trophy won by the RSP team.

Mr. Kanekar congratulated the team members for their remarkable performance and exhorted them to continue striving for excellence to bring more glory for the company.

Mr. Raghu Nandan Padhy, Deputy Manager (Sports) coordinated the programme.

Notably, the RSP team exhibited an outstanding performance at the Inter Steel Plant Swimming Championship 2025, held in July at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur. RSP secured total 16 points to become the Runners up. The team won 1 Gold, 3 Silver, and 3 Bronze medals. The RSP team was led by Mr. Prasenjit Ray, DGM (RMHP), who served as the Coach-cum-Team Manager. Among the notable individual performances, Mr. Pradeep Kumar Barik from Roll Shop, won 2 silver medals in the 50 metre Freestyle and 50 metre Butterfly events, while Mr. Rudra Narayan Sahoo from Repair Shop (Electrical) bagged 2 Bronze medals in the 50m and 100m Backstroke categories. Mr. Suryasen Murmu of SMS-II secured a Silver in 100m Freestyle and Mr. Aditya Pujari son of Mr. Ajay Pujari of HSM-2 Department won a Bronze in the same event under the Employee Ward category. The highlight of the championship was RSP’s remarkable victory in the 4x50m Freestyle Relay, where the team of Aditya Pujari, Rudra Narayan Sahoo, Pradeep Barik, and Suryasen Murmu clinched the Gold medal with a timing of 02:38.04.
