The Steel Plant Sports Board (SPSB) Inter-Steel Kabaddi Championship-2024-25, hosted by SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), kicked off on 17th March, 2025 at Ispat Basketball Complex, Sector-6. Mr. Tarun Misra, ED (HR) graced the inaugural ceremony as the Chief Guest and inaugurated the tournament. Mr. P K Swain, CGM In-Charge (TA & CSR), Mr. T G Kanekar, GM In-charge (TS) and other Senior Officers of the plant were present on the occasion.
In his address, Mr. Misra emphasized that the tournament serves as an excellent platform for budding athletes, promotes teamwork and encourages sporting exchanges among teams.
The three-day championship, set to conclude on March 19, 2025, features teams from Bokaro Steel Plant, Bhilai Steel Plant, Durgapur Steel Plant, IISCO Steel Plant, Alloy Steel Plant, Burnpur, RINL, VISL, and Salem Steel Plant, alongside the host RSP.
In the inaugural match, the RSP team beat Alloy Steel Plant team by 50-33 points. The Bhilai Steel Plant team emerged victorious in the 2nd match beating ISP, Burnpur by 8 points.
Mr. T G Kanekar welcomed the gathering while Mr. Anil Mallick, MOMT, SSM coordinated the inaugural programme. Mr. R N Padhy, Deputy Manager (Sports) proposed a formal vote of thanks.
