Shri Gyaneshwar Kumar Singh Takes Charge as DG & CEO of Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs

Shri Gyaneshwar Kumar Singh has assumed the position of Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), bringing over three decades of extensive experience in Finance, Corporate Law, Insolvency, CSR, ESG Reporting, Public Policy, E-Governance, and Capacity Building. An esteemed officer of the Indian Post & Telecommunication Accounts and Finance Service (IP&TAFS), 1992 batch, he has previously served as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, CEO of the Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA), and as a member of the Governing Body of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI). Shri Singh has played a pivotal role in shaping insolvency laws and corporate governance in India, notably serving as the Member Secretary of the Insolvency Law Committee from 2018 to 2021. He contributed significantly to the implementation of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) and its amendments, including the pre-packaged insolvency resolution law, thereby making the framework more responsive to economic needs. His efforts in establishing key institutions like NCLT, NCLAT, IEPFA, and IBBI under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, along with pioneering initiatives in CSR, including launching the National CSR Awards Scheme and overhauling CSR reporting rules, have had a lasting impact on corporate governance and responsible business practices.

With academic qualifications including an MA and M.Phil in Sociology from JNU, an MBA in Finance from FMS Delhi, and degrees in Law and History from Delhi University, Shri Singh also brings a global perspective through his experience as a Capacity Development Advisor with UNDP Afghanistan. His return to IICA marks a new chapter aimed at strengthening the institute’s role as a think tank, policy laboratory, and capacity development hub under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. His visionary leadership is expected to further advance IICA’s mission of promoting responsible corporate governance, sustainability, and innovation in India’s evolving business landscape.
