Shri Ashok Kumar Sehgal has taken over Charge as CEO Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL)

Shri Ashok Kumar Sehgal has assumed the charge as the Chief Executive Officer of Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL) on July 6, 2025. PVUNL, a joint venture between NTPC and Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL), is dedicated to establishing a state-of-the-art 4000 MW thermal power plant in Jharkhand. The first phase, comprising 2400 MW through three 800 MW units, is progressing rapidly towards completion, with Shri Sehgal’s leadership expected to accelerate this development.

Bringing over 35 years of extensive experience with NTPC, Shri Sehgal has held key roles across operations, maintenance, turbine technology, and project management. His previous tenure as Business Unit Head at Talcher Kaniha saw significant milestones, establishing the station as a leading power plant within NTPC. His academic credentials include a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering, an M.Tech in Power Engineering from IIT Delhi, and management training from IIM Bangalore and Silicon Valley, USA.

With a strong blend of technical expertise and strategic vision, Shri Sehgal is well-positioned to guide PVUNL through its crucial phases of development. His leadership is anticipated to enhance project execution, bolster Jharkhand’s energy infrastructure, and ensure the timely completion of the ambitious 3×800 MW thermal power project. Known for his calm demeanour and sound decision-making, Shri Sehgal’s appointment marks a significant step toward strengthening the state’s power sector.
