SHANTI Act to Boost Private Sector in India’s Nuclear Energy Growth

NEW DELHI. Union Minister Jitendra Singh announced that the SHANTI Act and policy support will help increase private sector participation in expanding India’s nuclear energy capacity, aiming for 100 gigawatts by 2047. He highlighted the progress in developing Small Modular Reactors under the Nuclear Mission, with plans for five reactors by 2033, and emphasized India’s move towards utilizing thorium reserves and advanced nuclear technology.
