SEXUAL ORIENTATION IS A HUMAN RIGHT
In the olden days, there were more taboos, & narrow mindedness. Due to this certain acts were looked down upon. In many cultures, homosexuality ( same gender sexual preference ) was not allowed. Can you imagine the mental plight of homosexual people in such an environment ? They live with deep fear, & are scared to be stigmatized. Their lives are lived in a wooden closet. They can’t tell the world what they feel. Their life is a living hell. Feel for them. They were born to be attracted to the same sex. What is wrong in that ? God made them that way. Humanity has no right to ostracize someone for an act of God.
On May 17, we celebrate the International Day against homophobia, transphobia, & biphobia. This day was chosen to commemorate the decision to remove homosexuality from the International Classification of Diseases of the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1990. The main purpose of the May 17 mobilisations is to raise awareness of violence, discrimination, and repression of LGBT ( lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-sexual ) communities worldwide, which in turn provides an opportunity to take action and engage in dialogue with the media, policymakers, public opinion, and wider civil society.
I am a straight man. But my heart cries for what they undergo in a social setting. Give the LGBT community their due respect by trying to imbibe the following 7 guidelines :
* don’t hurt or cause pain through insensitive words & branding
* don’t talk behind the back of LGBT community in a derogatory way
* just as you want respect in the world, give respect to all
* make friends with few people in the LGBT community so they can integrate with the mainstream
* the LGBT community suffer from more mental complexes, so be extra sensitive to them
* when injustice is done to them due to bias, fight for their rights
* make your heart big enough for the whole humanity to fit in
Sexual orientation is a human right. Don’t deny this.
