A technical seminar on ‘Maintenance & Repair Welding’ was conducted at the R & C Laboratory Conference Hall of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) on 16th May, 2025. Mr. S. S. Roy Choudhury, CGM (Maintenance) presided over the seminar. Mr. R.N. Rajendran, CGM I/c (Mechanical & Shops), Mr. D. Palo, CGM (Mechanical) and many other Senior Officers of the plant were present on the occasion. The seminar witnessed enthusiastic participation from representatives of all major production and centralized departments of the plant. Notably, the event was organized by M/s EWAC Alloys Limited in collaboration with their channel partner M/s Rajesh & Co., Rourkela.
Mr. RoyChoudhury emphasized the importance of proper repair methodologies and reconditioning of spares over outright replacement, highlighting the significant benefits in cost reduction and equipment longevity.
Mr. D. D. Roy (Zonal Sales Manager) and Mr. N. Patel (Territorial Sales Manager) along with Mr. R. Chatterjee (Application Specialist), M/s EWAC Alloys Limited delivered key presentations focusing on specialized product portfolio in the welding domain, including condition-based and application-specific welding electrodes. They shared insightful case studies from the steel industry demonstrating solutions for enhanced equipment life and significant reduction in recurring maintenance costs.
In his closing remarks, Mr. R.N. Rajendran lauded the seminar for its interactive and informative content. He encouraged departments to embrace the philosophy of ‘repair rather than replace’ to achieve long-term operational efficiency.
