SECL Launches Specialized Legal Training to Crack Down on Illegal Mining and Coal Theft

BILASPUR. A four-day capacity building training programme for officers authorized under the MMDR Act, 1957, commenced today at the SECL Headquarters in Bilaspur. Inaugurated by SECL Director (HR), Shri  Biranchi Das, the workshop trains officials from SECL, CISF, TSR, and Madhya Pradesh SISF who are now legally empowered to file direct court complaints against illegal coal mining and theft. Led by retired IPS officer Vipul Shukla, Senior Advisor (Security) at BCCL, the sessions cover evidence collection, legal procedures, and strong prosecution reporting. Running in batches from June 23 to 26, 2026, the initiative aims to enhance legal awareness and equip security and area managers to swiftly curb mineral theft.
