NEW DELHI. The Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) organised an interactive workshop in New Delhi on “Labour Law Reforms: Understanding the New Labour Codes & Central Rules” in collaboration with Deloitte. The programme, attended by nearly 100 participants from 32 public sector enterprises (PSEs), focused on key statutory provisions relating to wages, social security, workplace safety and labour-management relations.
Dr. Mahendra Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment, said the consolidation of labour laws into four comprehensive Labour Codes aims to simplify, modernise and bring greater transparency to the labour regulatory framework while balancing labour rights with ease of doing business. SCOPE Chairman Dr. K.P. Mahadevaswamy emphasised the importance of continued dialogue among the government, employers and employees for effective implementation of the reforms.
SCOPE Director General Atul Sobti highlighted the significance of the Labour Codes for PSEs, considering their large workforce, and reaffirmed SCOPE’s engagement with the Ministry to support their implementation. Senior officials, subject matter experts and the Deloitte team provided technical guidance and addressed participants’ queries. The workshop formed part of SCOPE’s ongoing capacity-building initiatives to help PSEs navigate the transition to the new labour law framework.
