NEW DELHI. The Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) recently organized a National Workshop on Succession Planning for Board-Level Positions to strengthen leadership pipelines across Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs). The event was inaugurated by Smt. Mallika Srinivasan, Chairperson of PESB, and Shri K. Moses Chalai, Secretary of DPE, in the presence of Shri K.P. Mahadevaswamy (Chairman, SCOPE & CMD, NBCC), Shri Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay (Vice-Chairman, SCOPE & CMD, Goa Shipyard), and Shri Atul Sobti (Director General, SCOPE). Smt. Srinivasan emphasized that succession planning is a strategic imperative, urging organizations to identify high-potential talent early, while Shri Chalai highlighted the need for consistent recruitment and increased women’s participation to remain globally competitive.
During the workshop, Shri K.P. Mahadevaswamy spoke on the necessity of building elite leadership through international alliances to navigate technological complexities. Shri Atul Sobti introduced the “5 Cs” of leadership—Character, Competence, Commitment, Courage, and Compassion—detailing SCOPE’s DAKSH and Advanced Global Leadership programs as key capacity-building initiatives. Concluding the session, Shri Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay noted that institutionalizing a robust succession framework is essential for seamless transitions. Attended by over 100 senior officials, the workshop underscored SCOPE’s commitment to nurturing a visionary cadre aligned with the goal of a self-reliant India.
