Are you bored of the usual morning walks? Now start walking in reverse to obtain amazing health benefits. This might sound odd but experts believe that reverse walking  also known as back step walking is very good for the heart , the brain and basic metabolism of the body. When compare to normal walking. Reverse Walking burns the calories at a much faster rate. Health enthusiasts are now often seen adopting this new walking technique.

According to four times bestseller, writer and health expert Lory Schmack, “walking hundred steps in Reverse walking is equivalent to thousand normal steps.” The expert says that Retro Walking or Reverse Walking increases the pulse rate of the heart and thus, pumps more blood and oxygen to all the parts and muscles of the body. It is also observed that retro walking strengthens the calf muscles, glutes and quadriceps. Also it inspires the brain to work more accurately.

BENEFICIAL FOR STROKE AND ARTHIRITIS PATIENTS

According to the research from the University of Cincinnati, Gardener Neuroscience institute,” Practising Reverse Walking can make the stroke patients start to walk again. It is believed that walking in reverse helps one improve the balance in the body parts and also synchronise the lower body with the pace of the walker. Many Studies have also claimed that this practice brings relief to the arthritis of the knees.

Cardiologist Consultant, Dr. Saurabh Goyal from Wockhart Hospital says that any kind of walking is beneficial for better functioning of lungs and heart. The more you walk, lesser the risk of heart troubles. Walking in reverse lowers one’s blood pressure resulting in decreased risk of heart ailments. It increases good cholesterol and maintain balance of insulin and blood sugar, thus resulting in reducing the chances of diabetes. Dr.Goyal also says that reverse walking is generally beneficial for overall health. It is good for strengthening of bones and muscles and also boosts our energy level. Dr. Phaterpekar from the same university adds that walking in reverse improves eyesight and mental clarity.

For all those who take their health seriously and indulge in practices like, core strengthening and stretching along with morning walks must add Reverse  Walking to their everyday routine in order to live a positive and healthy life.
