A new garden, “Samriddhi Chakra” developed by the Roll Shop Department at SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), was inaugurated by Mr. S R Suryawanshi, ED (Works) on 10th August 2024. Present on the occasion were Mr. R N Rajendran, CGM (Mechanical), Mr. Ravi Ranjan, CGM (Design & Shops), Mr. Rajkishore Mudali, CGM (Electrical), Mr. MNVS Prabhakar, CGM (Services), Mr. P K Sahoo, CGM (MS), Mr. Subrat Kumar, CGM (HSMs & Auxiliaries), Mr. S R Mohapatra, GM In-charge (Roll Shop), Head of Departments, other Officers and employees of the Department. The dignitaries also planted trees to mark the occasion.
In his address, ED (Works) praised the Roll Shop team for their efforts in creating the garden and emphasized the importance of “Green and Clean Steel.” He encouraged employees to raise awareness about the benefits of decarbonization, including energy and carbon savings, cost reductions, and other advantages of sustainable steelmaking.
The garden’s main attraction is the “Samriddhi Chakra,” a large, aesthetically designed monument symbolizing RSP’s commitment to prosperity, safety, and sustainability. The garden features beautiful pathways with decorative lights, wall paintings of tribal art, and lush greenery, enhancing its overall appeal.
At the outset Mr. Subrat Kumar, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of fostering a green and sustainable culture among RSP employees. Mr. S R Mohapatra, provided an overview of the program, expressed gratitude to the RSP management for their support and thanked all agencies and departments for their contributions. The program was coordinated by Mr. M K Mudali, GM (Roll Shop).
