SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has registered a remarkable performance in the first five months of FY 2025–26, setting multiple new benchmarks across production units.
Blast Furnace-5 ‘Durga’ produced 13,28,160 tonnes of hot metal during April–August 2025, surpassing its previous best of 12,38,543 tonnes achieved in the corresponding period last year (CPLY). Blast Furnace-1 ‘Parvati’ also clocked its best April–August performance with 4,58,797 tonnes of hot metal, improving on its earlier record of 3,95,510 tonnes. Similarly, Sintering Plant-1 produced 6,29,117 tonnes of sinter, registering its best-ever April–August performance.
In the downstream area, the New Plate Mill rolled 4,20,071 tonnes of plates, its highest-ever output for the first five months of any fiscal, surpassing the earlier best of 3,86,425 tonnes achieved in April–August 2021–22. It also achieved its best-ever monthly dispatch of 93,087 tonnes in August 2025. The Old Plate Mill contributed with a new high of 2,28,110 tonnes of plates during the same period.
The state-of-the-art Hot Strip Mill-2 registered an all-time high by rolling 10,94,200 tonnes of slabs and producing 10,68,360 tonnes of HR coils, recording a growth of 2.8% over CPLY. The Sheet Shearing Line also posted its best April–August performance with 1,23,405 tonnes of HR plates.
In August 2025 alone, RSP produced 3,87,339 tonnes of hot metal and 3,59,789 tonnes of crude steel, achieving its best-ever August performance. The month also witnessed several single-day records. On 16th August, the Blast Furnaces together tapped 13,435 tonnes of hot metal, while on 15th August the New Plate Mill rolled 5,362 tonnes of slabs and produced 4,825 tonnes of plates in a single day.
