Boosted by the Best April performance by the new units, SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has commenced the new financial year 2025-26 with impressive performances in key production areas.

In April 2025, Blast Furnace-5 tapped 2,68,594 tons of hot metal marking its Best April performance, registering a notable 10.1% growth over the corresponding period last year (CPLY). Similarly, Steel Melting Shop-II (SMS-II) set a new benchmark by producing 3,05,650 tons of crude steel, surpassing its previous best of 299,512 tons in April 2024. Caster-III contributed in the success casting 140066 tons to record its best April performance. The Steel Melting Shop-1 also created a new sequence record by casting 31 heats on 30th April, 2025. The State-of-the-art Hot Strip Mill-2 rolled 2,30,322 tons of HR Coils recording its best-ever April output with an impressive 6.2% growth over the CPLY. The new Sheet Shearing Line of HSM-2 demonstrated exceptional performance, producing 22,464 tons of HR Sheets in April 2025, reflecting a substantial 69.4% growth over CPLY.

Mr. Alok Verma, Director In-Charge, RSP while lauding the performance has emphasised upon making every effort to reduce cost of production with operational excellence, process optimisation and improved techno-economics while striving to meet the all important targets.
