A one-day Vendor Development Programme for Micro & Small Enterprises (MSEs) with Special focus on SC/ST and Women owned MSEs was organised By SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) in association with Govt of India National SC/ST Hub Office (NSSHO), Bhubaneswar & MSME Development and Facilitation Office (MSME-DFO),Cuttack at Rourkela Club on 19th December, 2024.
Mr. Tarun Misra, ED (HR), RSP graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and inaugurated the programme. Mr. Anil Kumar, ED (MM), RSP and Mr. D Chakraborty, In-Charge, National SC-ST Hub Office (NSSHO), Bhubaneswar were also present on the dais. Mr. Biswaranjan Palai, ED (Operations) and many other senior officers were also present on the occasion. The programme was attended by more than 100 vendors including SC-ST/Women entrepreneurs.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Misra applauded the efforts of the MM department for organising such a workshop. He also urged the vendors especially the SC-ST and Women entrepreneurs to reap benefits from various schemes of RSP.
Mr. Palai in his address spoke about the critical role of the vendors in the future expansion of the plant and the mutually beneficial public procurement policy of RSP.
Mr. Anil Kumar elaborated upon the business opportunities for the vendors at RSP and rapid digitalisation in the unit to make the processes transparent and efficient.
Mr. D Chakraborty while appreciating organisation of the workshop urged the participants to take full benefit of the programme.
Mr. tarun Misra felicitated seven prominent SC/ST & Women suppliers of RSP namely Prava & Sons, Ambesh Industry, Minz Chemical, Koshala Engineering, Health & Care, Gurdawar Engineering, and Hitkarni Engineering on the occasion.
The dignitaries also felicitated all SC/ST and Women Entrepreneurs present on the occasion.
Earlier the programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries. During the programme vendors were made aware about the support and schemes of the Government also about opportunities for them at RSP and other PSUs by the senior officials of Govt. of Odisha, Govt. of India & officials of RSP and other PSUs. An interaction session with vendors was also held.
While Mr. Anil Kumar, ED(MM) welcomed the gathering, Mr. Rajiv Sehgal, CGM In-Charge (MM-Purchase) proposed a formal vote of thanks. Mr. Omkar Mohanty, Deputy Manager (MM-Purchase) and Ms. Susmita Tirkey, AGM (MM-Purchase) coordinated the programme.
