SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) joined the rest of the nation in observing National Pollution Prevention Day on 2nd December 2024. To mark the occasion, the Environment Engineering Department organized an Environmental Awareness Session at the Learning and Development (L&D) Centre. The session was chaired by Mr. Hiralal Mohapatra, Chief General Manager (Utilities & Environment). Mr. Mohapatra in his address reiterated the plant’s commitment to environmental sustainability and elaborated about some of the future plans.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Mr. P.C. Dash, General Manager In-Charge (Environment). He also introduced the theme for this year and through an insightful presentation highlighted the current environmental scenario, potential threats, and measures necessary to curb pollution, aiming to maintain clean air and a green earth.
Thereafter, Mr. V.V.R. Murty, General Manager (Environment), made a detailed presentation on RSP’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and outlined future strategies to further minimize environmental impact. The session concluded with an open house discussion, where representatives from various departments shared their views and proposed steps to create a cleaner and greener environment, both within and beyond the Rourkela Steel Plant campus.
