SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) takes immense pride in celebrating the outstanding achievements of Mr. Deepak Kumar Kedia, IPS, 1999 Assam Cadre, who once served as a Finance & Accounts Officer at RSP during the year 1997-1998. His remarkable journey from Rourkela Steel Plant to serving as Inspector General, National Security Guard (NSG), stands as an inspiration to many.
Mr. Kedia, a distinguished Chartered Accountant (CA), Company Secretary (CS), Cost & Management Accountant (CMA), Law Graduate (LLB), and MACS, has been conferred with the prestigious ‘CA in Public Service’ award by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) at the World Forum of Accountants meet held at Yashobhoomi, Delhi, recently.
While at RSP, he appeared for the Civil Services Examination from Cuttack, marking the beginning of an illustrious career in Indian Police Service. He fondly recalls his time at RSP as a foundational phase that played a significant role in shaping his professional and leadership acumen.
Over the years, Mr. Kedia has served in key positions, including Superintendent of Police (SP) across multiple districts in Assam, Additional Director at the Enforcement Directorate (ED), and Director of Left Wing Extremism (LWE) at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Currently, as the Inspector General, Headquarters, NSG, he is responsible for strategic planning, operational oversight, and policy execution in national security.
His contributions to law enforcement and public service have been widely recognized. On Republic Day 2025, he was honored with the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, further cementing his legacy in India’s policing and security landscape.
