The Women’s Kabaddi Team of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) delivered an impressive performance to secure the third position in the 73rd Senior State Kabaddi Championship held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Cuttack from 13th to 15th February, 2026. As many as 30 women’s teams from across Odisha participated in the championship.
The RSP Women’s team topped the league table by winning all three of its league matches. Continuing their winning momentum, the team defeated Sundargarh by 28–19 in the pre-quarterfinal and edged past Puri by 35–33 in a closely contested quarterfinal to advance to the semifinals. The team, however, lost to KIIT in the semifinal clash and finished third overall.
The team comprised Sumitra Mundary (Captain), Satyabati Bagh, Miliya Kujur, Sunita Mahakul, Niki Rout, Mamta Mundary, Sanidha Minz, Twinkle Kishan and Sumati Majhi. Notably, Sumitra Mundary was adjudged ‘Player of the Match’ in two games for her outstanding performance. Mr. Sukuru Tanty, Junior Engineering Associate, RS (M), and Mr. Kameshwar Singh, Junior Engineer, Water Supply (Town), served as the coaches of the team, while Ms. Tilottama Agarwal was the team manager.
