Rourkela Steel Plant prioritizes health of employees through compulsory Annual Medical Check-Ups

As a caring organization, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) puts utmost thrust on the health of its employees. Apart from setting up modern medical treatment facilities in Ispat General Hospital, the Plant also emphasizes on regular health checkups so as to uncover potential health issues early on, such as hypertension, diabetes, or cardiovascular disease. Many a time these early detections are helping tremendously in timely intervention, preventing these conditions from worsening and leading to more severe health problems.

The annual health check up at the Occupational Health Centre (OHSC) has been made mandatory for all employees. The Human Resource Department is organizing and scheduling these health check-ups at the OHSC, with unit HR executives ensuring timely follow-ups. Medical professionals posted at the OHSC conduct detailed medical assessments to identify any occupational health risks or early signs of disease due to exposure to hazardous environments. These health check-ups include a wide range of tests such as physical examinations (height, weight, vision, blood pressure), blood tests, chest X-rays, ECGs, Opthalmology, lung function tests, and audiometric evaluations etc . Blood tests are being done twice a week at OHSC and regularly at the Ispat General Hospital.
