The Ministry of Railways achieved a green energy milestone with the commissioning of India’s first removable solar panel system at Banaras Locomotive Works, Varanasi, featuring 28 panels of 15KWp, marking a significant step toward sustainable rail transport. Alongside this, Indian Railways expanded freight operations by launching a salt-loaded rake from Sanosara to Dahej, expected to generate Rs 31.69 lakh in freight earnings, boosting regional industry and logistics. Additionally, Western Railway commissioned India’s first 2×25 kV Electric Traction System at Nagda–Khachrod, utilizing Scott Transformer technology to improve electrification efficiency, representing progress in railway infrastructure development.
