The Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) has extended its application deadline from March 12 to March 31, 2025, due to the overwhelming response, with more than 600,000 applications received. This round of the PMIS aims to provide practical experience and skill-building opportunities for young Indians across 730 districts, with a goal of offering over one crore internship opportunities as announced by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Following the success of the first phase, which began on October 3, 2024, the initiative continues to gain traction.
To ensure inclusivity, the government is prioritizing applications from SC, ST, OBC, and disabled candidates, promoting equal opportunities for youth from all backgrounds. In this second phase, more than 100,000 new internships are being made available, with over 300 companies from various sectors—including oil, gas, banking, and FMCG—participating in the initiative. The central government, along with these companies, is actively conducting awareness programs in educational institutions and utilizing digital and social media campaigns to connect with more young individuals across the country.
