Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has acquired two Project Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs)—Sirohi Transmission Limited and Beawar-Mandsaur Transmission Limited—on August 22, 2024. These acquisitions, secured through a Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process, will implement transmission systems for evacuating 5.5 GW of renewable energy from Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer/Barmer Complex. Both projects, part of an interstate transmission system, are set to be commissioned within 24 months. This aligns with India’s goal of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030, strengthening the national grid for green energy integration.
