Per capita water availability in India is diminishing due to population growth, with projections of 1486 cubic meters in 2021 and 1367 cubic meters in 2031. The government addresses this through state-centric initiatives and collaborative efforts like Jal Jeevan Mission, aiming for tap water supply in rural areas by 2024. AMRUT 2.0 covers all statutory towns to ensure universal water supply, while Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojna promotes efficient water use in agriculture. The extension of PMKSY and initiatives like Sahi Fasal and Mission Amrit Sarovar target sustainable water practices. “Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain” focuses on rainwater harvesting, conservation, and awareness. The Bureau of Water Use Efficiency and “Sahi Fasal” campaign encourage efficient water use. Mission Amrit Sarovar aims to rejuvenate water bodies, aligning with broader efforts to manage water resources effectively.
