RANCHI. State-owned power major NTPC Limited has announced that the 800 MW Unit-2 of the Patratu Super Thermal Power Project Phase-1 in Jharkhand will officially commence commercial operations from midnight on June 25, 2026. Developed by Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited, a subsidiary of NTPC, this critical addition marks the completion of the second of three planned 800 MW supercritical units at the facility, substantially bolstering regional grid stability and power availability. With this successful commissioning, the total installed capacity of the NTPC Group has scaled a new peak of 90,857 MW, while its overall commercial generation capacity climbs to 89,777 MW, further cementing the energy giant’s pivotal role in meeting the nation’s rising electricity demand.
