NEW DELHI. At the 29th Energy Technology & Innovation Meet (ETM 2026) held in Goa, ONGC Director (Strategy & Corporate Affairs), Shri Satyan Kumar, chaired a session on “Advances in CBG Feedstock Aggregation & Technology Advancement in CBG” on October 28, 2026. He highlighted the need to shift India’s focus from generating demand for Compressed Biogas (CBG) to ensuring reliable and sustainable production. Emphasising key requirements such as dependable feedstock aggregation, commercially viable pretreatment technologies, integrated plant engineering and efficient operations, he underlined the importance of scaling up proven technologies to accelerate the growth of the CBG sector.
Sharing ONGC’s approach towards CBG projects under development, he highlighted the integration of feedstock preparation, gas purification, compression and fermented organic manure processing. He also stressed the potential of value-added products such as bio-manure and bio-bitumen, along with diversified biomass applications, to improve project viability and strengthen the circular economy. Through these initiatives, ONGC aims to convert biomass resources into reliable clean energy, generate rural economic opportunities and support India’s sustainable energy transition.
