ONGC and Oil India Limited formalized their collaboration through a Joint Operating Agreement for three promising blocks awarded in OALP Bid Round IX. The blocks, located in the Assam Basin (Meghalaya), Cambay Basin (Gujarat), and Mahanadi Basin (Ultra Deepwater, East Coast), cover approximately 10,964 square kilometers and are rich in hydrocarbon potential. MoU signed on 12 August 2025.
With ONGC taking the lead as the Operator, the consortium plans to undertake advanced exploration activities to unlock the hydrocarbons in these regions. This strategic partnership aims to enhance India’s energy security and align with the nation’s vision of #EnergyNowAndNext, supporting sustainable growth and energy independence.
