NTPC-Simhadri rolled out a four-week long empowerment programme – Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) for the girls from the surrounding government schools of NTPC-Simhadri plant, to train the girls in different skills. GEM is being conducted by the NTPC across the country as a part of corporate social responsibility.
GEM was inaugurated at NTPC-Simhadri by Ramesh Babu V, Director (Operations) .The GEM is targeted towards girl children in the age group of 10 to 12 years. During the four weeks workshop, the girls will be equipped with skills and knowledge in areas like Yoga, self-defense, basic English, Hindi, Mathematics, Science, General Knowledge, and Life Science in addition to inputs on dance, drama, music, arts and crafts.
