NEW DELHI. NTPC Limited and Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation (GMDC) signed two MoUs to strengthen cooperation in coal and lignite use. The aim is to improve India’s energy security and self-reliance. The first agreement allows NTPC to use coal from GMDC’s coal blocks for its existing and upcoming power plants. The second agreement focuses on exploring coal and lignite gasification projects. This includes pilot projects, possible commercial use, and using syngas produced from gasification.
The MoUs were signed in the presence of NTPC CMD Gurdeep Singh, GMDC MD Roopwant Singh, and other senior officials.
