NTPC Bongaigaon and ACCF Launch Cancer Care Program in Kokrajhar

NTPC Bongaigaon, in partnership with the Assam Cancer Care Foundation (ACCF), has launched a cancer care initiative aimed at early detection and treatment of cancer in Kokrajhar. The program, part of NTPC’s CSR, was inaugurated by Smt. Kabita Deka, Additional District Commissioner, alongside dignitaries like Shri Akhilesh Singh, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, and Dr. N.K. Singha of ACCF.

Targeting over 42,000 people, the initiative will focus on early detection of oral, breast, and cervical cancers through door-to-door screenings and awareness campaigns. The program will reach remote areas via four Block Primary Health Centers (BPHCs) and 80 Health and Wellness Centers (HWCs).

Smt. Kabita Deka lauded the collaboration, ensuring full district support. With a project value of ₹32.7 lakhs, the initiative aligns with the CPSE’s theme “Health & Nutrition” and contributes to Sustainable Development Goals 3 and 17.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, led by its President, Smt. Sangeeta Singh. The club has been a strong advocate for community health and welfare initiatives in Kokrajhar, and its members pledged their support in raising awareness about cancer prevention and early detection to ensure the program’s success.

Key officials from NTPC Bongaigaon, including Dr. Deepayan Paul, Chief Medical Officer; Shri Paresh Mathur, AGM (Technical Services); Shri Madhurjya Singha Lahkar, Sr. Manager (HR-Corporate Communication); Smt. Pranami Handique, Sr. Manager (HR); and Smt. Aduity Thakuri, CSR Executive, who were present on the occasion spoke on the advantage of the program.
