NLC India Limited’s Chairman and Managing Director, Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, was honored with the Mahatma Award 2025 in the Individual Category for Leadership in Business, Sustainability, and Social Impact. The award was presented by Dr. Kiran Bedi, India’s first woman IPS officer and former Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, along with other dignitaries, during a grand ceremony at the India International Centre in New Delhi on October 1, 2025. Established in 2016 by philanthropist Shri Amit Sachdeva, known as “The CSR Man of India,” and supported by the Aditya Birla Group, the Mahatma Award recognizes outstanding contributions to society by individuals and organizations. Shri Motupalli’s selection followed a thorough jury evaluation, acknowledging his visionary leadership in guiding NLC India towards sustainable and inclusive growth, expanding renewable energy initiatives, adopting environmentally responsible mining practices, and pioneering social impact projects in healthcare, education, livelihood creation, and women empowerment. During the ceremony, he expressed gratitude, emphasizing the collective efforts of his team and reaffirming his commitment to Gandhiji’s ideals of a greener, fairer, and more inclusive future, while contributing to the nation’s energy security.
