NEW DELHI. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Coal India Limited hosted a ceremony in New Delhi to present the Naari Shram Shakti Samman to women who have made outstanding contributions to the mining sector. Among the awardees was Ms. Nidhi Mandve, Manager (E&M) at the Gevra Area of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL). Serving at the Gevra mine, which is Asia’s second-largest coal mine, Ms. Mandve was recognized for her critical work in managing dewatering systems and overseeing nearly 100 major tenders, ensuring that large-scale coal production remains uninterrupted for India’s energy security.
The awards were presented by a distinguished panel including Ministry of Coal Additional Secretaries Smt. Rupinder Brar and Shri Sanoj Kumar Jha, alongside Coal India Chairman Shri B. Sairam and Director (HR) Dr. Vinay Ranjan. The leadership highlighted how women are now taking on strategic roles in the mining industry, once considered a male-dominated field.
