The New Plate Mill (NPM) of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has set a new benchmark in performance by achieving its highest-ever single-day production on 15th August, 2025. On the day, the Mill rolled 5,445 tons of slabs, surpassing its previous best of 5,109 tons recorded on 10th July, 2025.
Adding to the feat, the Mill also registered its best-ever shift performance in ‘C’ Shift on the same day, with an output of 1,884 tons, bettering the earlier record of 1,834 tons achieved in ‘A’ Shift on 10th January, 2025.
What makes the accomplishment even more remarkable is that it coincided with the nation’s 79th Independence Day, symbolizing the spirit of determination and excellence. The achievement was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the NPM collective, ably supported by key departments including Production Planning & Control, Energy Management, R&C Laboratory, Roll Shop, Steel Melting Shop-2, Traffic & Raw Materials, Centralised Mechanical & Electrical, Instrumentation, C&IT, Refractory, and MM Stores.
