In a significant step towards strengthening its digital transformation process, the Finance and Accounts Department of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant has launched a new digital initiative, ‘Auto Processing of Invoices (RJC)’. Mr. A K Behuria, ED (F&A) inaugurated the new system at a meeting held in Chintan Conference Hall of Finance & Accounts Department, on 5th February 2025. Present on the occasion were Mr. A C Sarkar, CGM In-charge (Services) and Mr. R Dasgupta, CGM (F&A).
Speaking on the occasion, ED (F&A) emphasized upon the importance of digitalisation in the current scenario, stating, “Digitalisation is the key requirement of the day, to match the industry standards and expectations. The auto-processing system will not only help in faster bill processing but also enhance transparency and accuracy in the system due to less human intervention.” Further expressing his desire ED (F&A) said that the system should be extended till payment stage so that on single click the bills will be processed and forwarded to Cash Section for payment” with the target date as 1st Apil’2025.
The new digital initiative aims to streamline the processing of Repair Job Contract bills, eliminating the need for multi-step single bill processing. With this system, bulk processing can be done with a single click, following system-driven internal checks and balances. The system will be utilized by the F&A-OB&A Section, reducing the average bill processing time by one-fifth, while also making the system more accurate and transparent.
During the function Mr. N K Rao, GM (F&A), made a presentation on the technical details of the auto-bill processing system and demonstrated it live. The meeting was attended by all General Managers and associated Executives of the Finance & Accounts Department, along with representatives from the Contract Cell (Works), C&IT, and DIC Secretariat.
