NEW DELHI. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has approved the formation of a specialized “Helicopter Cell” through an official order dated March 18, 2026. Chaired by the Joint Secretary of the Domestic Transport Division, the cell includes key members from the AAI, BCAS, Pawan Hans, and the Rotary Wing Society of India. This dedicated body is tasked with identifying and resolving operational bottlenecks, facilitating stakeholder coordination, and suggesting policy reforms to modernize the vertical flight industry. By addressing emerging challenges and streamlining regulations, the initiative aims to foster sustainable growth and enhance the ease of doing business within India’s aviation sector. This strategic move marks a significant step toward making helicopter operations a more integral part of the national transport framework.
