Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda chaired the ‘Kayakalp Manthan’ meeting to revitalize the Kayakalp Scheme, aimed at enhancing cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control in public health facilities. Since its 2015 launch, the scheme has expanded from 10 to 25 Central Government hospitals, with broader implementation through the NHM. Nadda emphasized a patient-centric approach, improved hospital ambiance, staff behavior, and stronger communication to enhance public perception. A major focus was Jan Bhagidari, encouraging community involvement to instill a sense of ownership. He called for continuous capacity building, grassroots empowerment, and eco-friendly innovations to reduce pressure on metro hospitals. “Kayakalp represents a shift in how healthcare is delivered and experienced,” Nadda stated.
